They say soups are great when had hot. This particular day in my life I started to think again ….
What if you had to get it hot first? And then, you took a great dive into it? Wouldn’t it be ‘extra’ great?
Hehe, not making head or tails of what I’m talking right? So, I wake up. Dress up for college, late as usual for the 8:30am class.
Time: 8:00am and ticking.
Sheesh! This happens all day long. Getting late for class, for meetings, for project class. Yeah! One of those who are very punctual (if you know what I mean), doing things ‘on time’. Finally 10yards to the class from the Mar Aprem Hostel…Ma’am, Sorry I’m late. May I come in?? ….ZZZZzzzzzz……..
“Psk...Psk…Varun, Varun, wake up!” calls out Nithin**.
WHAT’S YOUR PROB DUDE!!
“Soccer Practice today! You are coming right? We got just one day to the finals!?”
Hmmm think Varun, any dates?? Boooo….(not even close!) Nope. I can’t. Project Class!! Can’t miss that. Besides, there are four in our group, what would they think if I dropped out? And then, if I did, so would my brother. That would leave just the two girls for the class. Maybe they wouldn’t mind.
“No. No .NOOO!!! Don’t even think of it monu!” yells Nivedita**.
“This is the only day I can come! And you say you can’t? YOU . ARE . COMING!” says Parvathy.
I didn’t want to cut project either! Not that I ‘love’ classes, just that our main project was kinda tough yet very interesting. Hehe, which, as we expect, would get us on the ‘front page’ with Hon. Lalu Prasad Yadhav. Something related with the railways (I’ll talk about that when it does come in the front page!). But a sneak peak: it is what we call PAVN (pavan-means gold in Hindi).
“Nithin, buddy I aint coming! Count me and Arun out!” That was right when I got that pissed off look on his face, and the look on the other team members gave me the same feeling. Sheesh! I wanna badly go for the class and at the same play for the team too!
How badly I wish I could be at the same place twice! A feeling everyone has at some point of their life. Just that I had it too often!
I made up my mind. Sleep!....zzZZZZZ……
Time: 4:30pm. 10yards back to the room. A quick face wash. Dress up, and we are out.
Time: 4:50pm. I know I said quick. But this is as quick as it gets when it comes to dressing up! We are walking down the hill.
“GO dude GO! Don’t care about your team right! GO!” one of the teammates.
And he zooms off in his bike. Wish he could understand what I am in between. I got a match coming up day after, while there is this product we have to finish in 30 days.
Wait a minute! Arun and Varun! When did the both of you start doing the project and project reports waaayyy before the deadline??
9995*03***. “Nivi! Wait for us at the pattom bus stop at 6pm! SOCCER!! Byeeee!!”………Hang up.
We run back to the hostel. Change into the jersey and get in for play.
Time: 5:10pm
“Man I didn’t thin you’d come! And I was just joking when I said that. You should have higher PRIORITY for the PROJECT than the GAME. Anyways I’m glad you came.” exclaims Prasanth (the bike rider).
5mins. of play. The ball zooms here and there. Nearly 150 people on a field the size of a 800m track! Cricket. Football. Name it! And you find people playing it on this field. Oh yeah, yoga too! (Certianly not ‘art-of-living’ classes. Dunno y some people are actually crazy about it.)
A guy comes running over “Arun, a girl is looking for you over at the gate. Go see her. “
Damn! Arun! Lucky guy, a girl came all the way to the field looking for him? Interesting. And so I resume playing. Hopeless shots way off target!
“SHOULD I MOVE THE GOAL POST, so you can make the goal?” shouts Nithin. Dude! It’s been 5 months since I played! Give me a break!
“VARUN!! VARUN!! She came looking for you, not me!” . Turning back, I see Arun come running over to me. “Its HER!”
Her? Can’t be... I run over to the gate, thinking about all the possible pranks my friends could play on me.
Time: 5:16pm
“HAiii !!!! “
There she stood with that smile, that VERY same smile that makes my eyes see a million stars in a split-second, that VERY same smile that makes me want to count each one of them, with her in my arms.
The thoughts that went through my mind at that instance was immense. It’s right when they say that the human brain is better than a super computer. The memories that flew past my mind, the innumerable number of questions I wanted to ask her….. moreover, a list of things I wanted to do at THAT moment! A hug?... certain to get killed by her. A kiss?...certain to reach hell in not more than 0.000001 sec.
A smile and a hand-shake.
How are you? Quiet suprising! Great to see you! ( great?.... girl I just saw the whole world in front of me now!..wish I could tell you.)
“I am good. And you?” (Man, I hate it when she gives me these one-line answers!)
Fine. You are pretty good at suprising people you know? This is the second time you did really manage to SURPRISE me!
My brother comes. So does Prince**.
“So do we get a lift over the bus stop? Nivi is waiting for us” I ask her. Sure.
So we went.
As for football. Someone once said to me “ Varun know your PRIORITIES.” And so I DID know.
Time: 6pm.
(don’t think about what happened in between, lol we got late taking a shower, and dressing up again, while she was waiting)
Thanks girl! Keep surprising me like this. I simply LOVE the way you surprise me!
“(the same smile) Sure. Bye. Take Care”
9995*03***. “Nivi…she came to trivandrum. Waiting in the bus stop.”
“Ahaa. So!! The soup is getting hotter again I see!!! “
SOUP??
**- Some of the important people in my life. Wait till you hear about them
PS: Who is she? How do I know her? Hmm… keep wishing that I get in the mood to write about HER. Or let me know!
